Development of the Westbrooke area began in 1970 but was not completed until 2009 so the homes are in a variety of styles coming from several decades and different price ranges. The land is mostly level, with mature trees throughout. In some areas of the neighborhood, small forested ravines create a natural privacy barrier between the rear yards of the homes on parallel streets.  The initial development was outside of the city limits and was served by a community water system, but when Westbrooke was annexed, then city water and sewer were provided, and the remainder of the land was quickly built on with new homes. Most of the homes are single-story and have large lots, and all the homes are within walking distance of Arthur Edwards Elementary School. Tucker Creek Middle and Havelock High are the other two schools for this area (confirm before purchasing).  Westbrooke is located on the western side of Havelock. Progress Energy provides power, and the city provides water, sewer, and trash service along with police and fire protection.  Walmart is across the road from this subdivision, but shopping, gas, restaurants, banks, churches, doctors, and anything else you need are very close by.
