Bridgeton is a very small area of New Bern. It is located on the eastern shore of the Neuse River directly across from the city of New Bern. U.S. Route 17 passes through Bridgeton and connects to New Bern via the big Neuse River Bridge. This small town does have a police department and the utilities are through the Town of Bridgeton. Because of being right on the water, this area is known for its water sports and sailing. The beaches are only about 30 minutes away. There is also a new waterfront community park to be enjoyed by all, especially kids because of all the new play equipment. This area does have an elementary school but the higher grades do go across the bridge into New Bern. There is also a gas station here but shopping and dining are done in New Bern which is a short 10-minute drive and has all the amenities needed including medical, Walmart, Lowes, grocery stores, drug stores, hotels, and gas stations to name a few. The homes in this area range from small to large, many on the water and with sizeable yards and other features such as garages and patios and trees with moss hanging in them. Most of the people in this area are older, even retired, making this a quieter town to live in. The homes can be far apart so privacy is usually not an issue.
