Oriental is nestled within the inner banks along the Neuse River, intertwined with several smaller creeks, making this a wonderful area for boating. Wide waters make this a year-round sailing, cruising, kayaking, canoeing, and fishing area. If you like racing, there are regattas just about every month of the year. On land, Oriental offers a large variety of activities including historical walking tours, biking, tennis, a history museum, art galleries, restaurants, specialty shops, concerts, plays, and much more. This area also has many local businesses, churches, banks, groceries, and any other amenity you need. There are parks where you can sit and relax and enjoy the water and the charm of this small riverside town. Another thing Oriental is known for is its quirky way of celebrating the holidays. People come from all over everywhere to take part in the fun activities this town puts on. There are several different areas to dock a boat while in Oriental and two of these docks offer free overnight stays. This area is also known for it’s hunting and has many return hunters every year. Homes in this area range from small bungalows to big, waterfront homes. People that live here or have a vacation home here, never tire of this beautiful area of water, sunrises, sunsets, and lots of activities.
