Pine Knoll Shores is a small community in Carteret County that has some of the prettiest homes on the Crystal Coast. This is a quieter area than some of the areas along the coast. Pine Knoll Shores operates under a council-manager form of government. The manager is the chief administrator of the town and has the responsibilities of all municipal affairs, the council-manager form of government is based on a separation of functions, with the governing body being legislative, policy-oriented and administration the responsibility of the manager. The mayor and five-board member Board of Commissioners are elected at large. The mayor serves a two-year term and the commissioners serve a four-year term. The utilities are through Carteret-Craven Electric Cooperative. The Town of Atlantic Beach provides curbside garbage and recycling. Pine Knoll Shores has so much to offer year-round. The beach is across the street from the entrance of this community and there are homes and access to the sound (ICW) from this community. The NC Aquarium is also located at the entrance. In very close proximity to this area, you will find museums, beaches, fine dining, shopping, parks, trails, and many water activities. There is also Ft Macon State Park a few miles down the road. Other attractions that are close by are Beaufort museums and waterfront, Emerald Isles beaches, and Morehead City and its waterfront. If you are into golf you will find several courses close to Pine Knoll Shores. There are several schools close by including private schools and Carteret Community College. There are also doctors and immediate care offices within minutes of this area and the hospital is located in Morehead City. You will also find all the amenities you need for everyday living within a few minutes of this area as well as churches, the post office, and banks.
