Star Hill Golf Course in Cape Carteret, NC
Star Hill Golf Club opened its course in 1967, with 27 holes and with all of them in immaculate condition this course quickly became
one of the most preferred. It has been rated 3 ½ stars in Golf Digest’s “Places to Play”. This course drains better than any course on the Crystal Coast and is never cart path only.
Star Hill was named though, long before there was a golf course by that name. When the course was developed the developers were asked by numerous people not to change the name because Star Hill was the legendary name of the area for hundreds of years. According to Indian lore a “star”, most likely a meteor was seen and it crashed near where the first tee is now. This area was called Star Hill. The impact of this object falling opened up deep underground water sources which created a bog that is now the pond. The energy of the fiery meteor melting and the melting sand spewed over the adjacent area and can be found in the neighborhood of Star Hill today.
Star Hill Golf Club has the Champions Club for meals and social events. It is also available to the public for private parties, wedding receptions or other occasions.
