Carolina Plantations is located outside of the city limits of Jacksonville, NC.  This is a very big, well laid out subdivision, with streetlights and sidewalks. The schools for this area are: Carolina Forest Elementary, Jacksonville Commons Middle and Northside High School. The waste water for this subdivision goes to an onsite treatment facility, preventing each home from having to have a septic tank. When you enter this neighborhood you will see a pond on each side of the street with beautiful fountains in them. The entrance is a dividend road with crape myrtle, maple and other trees to add to the beauty. When entering you will also notice that along the sidewalks are small hills with trees to make a privacy screen for the homes behind them. There are also common areas at the entrance that are very well kept and just add more beauty. The homes here are vinyl siding with some having stone veneer on the exterior. These homes are traditional in style. This subdivision is done in named phases.  Some or most of them are as follows: Crown Park, Bentley Park, Great Neck, Regal Hill, Bristol Heights, Bartlett Square, Monarch Meadow, and Ryker Trace. Many of these homes do have fenced in back yards. It is a short 8 mile drive to get to MCB Camp Lejeune, 11 miles to MCAS New River and 24 miles to the MARSOC gate.  Living in this area provides you with many options, including shopping, dining, bars and pubs, medical and in less than a hour drive you can be at the beach.  The fire department is only about 6 miles from the subdivision and the hospital is only about 5 miles away.  WalMart and Lowes Home Improvement and many grocery stores, hotels, gas stations and other amenities are all very close and convenient.
